Clever plan by Tamil Nadu govt. to save power

Revised Power Tariff in Tamil Nadu effective from 1-Apr-2012:

Domestic Sector:

Consumption upto 100 units bi-monthly:
0-100 units           Rs.1.00 /unit
Fixed Charges       Rs.20/-

Consumption above 100 units and upto 200 units bi-monthly:
0-200 units           Rs.1.50 /unit
Fixed Charges       Rs.20/-

Consumption above 200 units and upto 500 units bi-monthly:
0-200 units           Rs.2 /unit
201-500 units       Rs.3 /unit
Fixed Charges       Rs.30/-

Consumption above 500 units bi-monthly:
0-200 units           Rs.3 /unit
201-500 units       Rs.4 /unit
Above 500 units    Rs.5.75 /unit
Fixed Charges       Rs.40/-

This means that if my consumption for 2 months just crosses 500, say even 501, there will be a huge difference in the amount I have to pay,

Units Consumed - 500 - Pay Rs. 1300.00/-
Units Consumed - 501 - Pay Rs. 1805.75/-
